Fire Ron Turner!

another rant on why Ron Turner should be fired!

It seems like every year, at the end of the season, I am complaining about Ron Turner’s play calling for some reason.  Last night was no exception.   The Bears are home, they have a 14 point lead in the 3rd quarter.   Now, I don’t want to get into the complex semantics of football and play calling, but let’s just say, there are certain times during a football game where you do not need to be a professional coordinator.  Yesterday was one of those times.

Since Forte has only been “awesome” all year, I grew nausea watching Turner call first down pass after pass, and not run any clock on a few three and outs.   I mean, you don’t have to overthink this.   You are at home, with a 14 point lead, and are playing for a playoff spot.   This is where football, or rather, the high level goal of needing to run clock, is almost universal.  Now how you run the ball is where Turner can demonstate his superior knowledge, but the bottom line is, you can’t be going three and out on 3 passes in the middle of the third qtr with a 14 point lead.

They are playing the Saints.   Give the ball to Forte on first down.   He might get 5 yards Ron.  If he does, give it to him again.   You can always let Orten throw a disgusting pick on 3rd down.  The fact that they won should not overshadow how poorly managed that second half was offensively.   Turner is an idiot.   There, I said it last year, and the year before.  I’ll say it again.   He has to go.   The fact that they won, led the whole second half, and Forte had 9 carries in the game, is unacceptable.
